Ruth Garrison

Know all men by these present that I Ruth Garrison of Dunkard Township, Greene County, and State of Pennsylvania. Being of sound and disposing mind & memory, do make and publish this my last will & Testament hereby revoking all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. And as to my worldly Estate, and all the property, Real, Personal or mixed, of which I shall die seized & possessed, or to which I shall be entitled at the time of my Decease: - I Devise, bequeath and dispose thereof in the manner following to wit; _ First my will is that all my just Debts shall by my Executors hereinafter named be paid out of my estate as soon after my Decease as shall by them be found convenient, - My wish and desire is that the Graveyard on the home farm shall be enlarged according to the plot, and Survey made by Abner Foredyce, to be and remain for a burying ground for all time, and that the said Graveyard be reserved in the Sale of said farm, also that one hundred Dollars, of the Purchase Money in Said farm remain in the hands of the Purchaser as a Perpetual lean against Said farm, the Interest thereon to be paid Annully (sp) to the trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Davistown and their succefsors (sp) and applied by them to the closing up of said graveyard twice a year, viz, June & September, the purchaser to have the privilege of doing said cleaning up of the graveyard as above stated in lieu of paying said Interest in money if he shall so desire, subject to the inspection of the aforesaid trustees, and also that the said graveyard shall be enclosed with an Iron fence according to the will of M.E. Garrison, Deceased, the foregoing is not my wish alone, but was even the wish and desire expressed in my presence by my Husband James Garrison, Deceased, & Also by my son M.E. Garrison Deceased, my object is to their wishes and desires carried out as expressed by them: _ I give and bequeath to H. A. Greenleaf four hundred Dollars out of the proceeds of the sale of the real estate (According the power given me in the will of M.E. Garrison Deceased.) her heirs and afsigns (sp) forever, _ I also give and bequeath said H. A. Greenleaf out of my own estate four hundred Dollars cash her heirs & afsigns (sp) fovea, I also give and bequeath said H.A. Greenleaf one cow (her choice) my two best beds & bedsteads, all my my bed clothing (except that hereafter named) all cupboard ware, all of my pot metal except the stove my large bureau, my best table and stand, my trunk, all my Books all my table cloths, & best oil table cloth, my mantle clock & fire finder, all my window curtains & blinds, skin curtains, all my carpets my rocking chair & all my windsor chairs, all my clothing, except black double woolen. Shall, all Miltons clothing all my keepsakes that may be in my trunk or elsewhere, all of my Brafs (sp) & copper, tin ware, my smoothing irons, one kettle stand, one pot trammel (none of the foregoing bequests includes any property that the said H. A. Greenleaf may have in her own pofsession (sp) or use as her own property)
Item I give and bequeath to William Bradshaw four hundred Dollars, to be paid over to John South for safe keeping and he to expend the same for said William Bradshaw as necessary my require reserving funds Sufficient for a decent Burrial including plain Marble tombstones for said Bradshaw. I also give and bequeath, Said Wm. Bradshaw all the grain that I may have, I also give and bequeath Said Wm. Bradshaw fifty Dollars to be paid to him by my executors hereafter named as soon as may be found convenient, also one small plow, one small wheel-Barrow, one axe one grain cradle, scoop shovel, one coal pick, cultivator, logchain, man saddle, and a mans double woolen shall (sp), one crobar (sp), hand saw, also one bed & bedding (Three colord (sp) blankets, one white blanket, three sheets, two pare pill cases, two flannel comforts, & one coverlet) one small bureau, two store boxes, to and for his use his heirs and foregoing forever.
Item, All claims dues and demands that I may have against Eppa Greenleaf (after a settlement with him) I give and bequeath to Mary Greenleaf, I also give and bequeath to her one stand of bees (if I have any at the time) her heirs and afsigns (sp).
Item I give and bequeath, Ruth Linehart my Black woolen double shall her heirs and afsigns (sp) forever.
Item I give and bequeath to Lucy A. Ingram, a nice silk Defs (to be at the discretion of my executors, but not to exceed fifty dollars her heirs and afsigns.
Item I give and bequeath the proceeds of the my bed (if I have any left undisposed of) to H. A. Greenleaf, and Wm. Bradshaw share and share alike their heirs and afsigns (sp).
Item my will and desire is that my executors, shall sell all the property that I may have at my Decease at public outery not otherwise disposed of and all monies remaining in the hands of any executors, with all other dues or demands of whatever kind, not otherwise disposed of by me.
I authorize my executors to pay over to the trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church at Davistown, and to be applied by them or their successors toward building a new church house when they in their judgement may think proper.
And Lastly I nominate and appoint, William Steel and Lewis Dowlin to be my executors of this my last will and Testament.

On this 30th day of January 1877, Personally appeared before me J. L. Yoders, Register, for the Probate of wills and granting letters of Administration for said County Lewis K. South, and Johnson Garrison two of the subscribing witnesses to the above and foregoing and annexed will, who being sworn according to law say, they were present and saw and heard Ruth Garrison the testatrix sign seal publish pronounce and declare the foregoing and annexed instrument writing as and for - her last will and testament, and at the time of so doing she was of sound mind and disposing memory to the best of our knowledge and that we signed the same as witnesses at her request in her presence

And more to wit January 30th day 1877 Affidavit of Lewis K. South filed when he say that Ruth Garrison, died on the 15th day of January 1877 at about 10 o'clock AM of said day.
